Reading Log #2 (Looking for Alaska)
A conflict happens after Miles had been at the school for about a month. When a new person enters the school they pull a prank on them, they wake them up in the middle of the night and throw them in the lake and run. When they had done it to Miles though they duct taped him like a mummy so he wouldn't be able to swim back and could have drowned. As shown on page 25, "With my arms flat against my sides like a soldier at attention, they mummified me from my shoulder to my wrist." Their reason for this is because they believe that Chip ratted some people out and got them expelled from their school. On a related note before they had woken up Miles they had peed in Chip's shoes. After that Chip tells Miles to tell him exactly who were the guys that did those things. One guy who took part in this (Kevin) asked for a truce. As shown on page 47, "You ratted out Paul and Marya. We got you back.Truce?" Kevin asked."Miles gave him attitude along with Chip and denied the truce.
